Why a Barn Extension?

A covered extension on the back of the barn has been part of the long-term development plan for Beyond's base camp for a number of years. All the rain we experienced over the past summer reminded us just how much the ministry would benefit from a large, covered dry-space at the back of the barn. We hope to complete the project this coming spring and have it available for Summer 2012. During rainy times this extension would allow us to provide a dry space large enough for:

• Saturdays: The large-group welcome
• Saturday/Sundays: Staging and distributing food and gear for each group
• Friday afternoons: Collecting and cleaning gear for two or more trips simultaneously
• Friday evenings: The all-camp "club" gathering
• Every rainy day: A more spacious dining experience for staff and guests in base camp
